This time next week I will be leading a writing workshop on character as part of the brilliant Wolds Words 2015. Wolds Words is an annual celebration of reading, writing and performance with events taking place in Louth and the the Lincolnshire Wolds, with events for adults running over October 21st-25th and the children’s and young people’s festival the week after 26th-31st October. Download the full programme of events here.
This year I’ll be leading a four hour workshop on Character and Story. Here’s the details:
The Brown Cow, Louth, Saturday 24th October, 9.30am-1.30pm, £6
Places are limited, please book in advance.
A detailed writing workshop covering key elements of short fiction writing – focused on the importance of character. The session will cover creating a character, crafting plot from character, complicating narratives to intensify conflict, structuring narrative and using character to generate a satisfying ending. Writers will be encouraged to develop a complete narrative using the starting point of a single, well-defined character of their own creation.
To book your tickets please call The Meridian Leisure Centre on 01507 607650 or pop in and speak to a member of the reception team.
I had a great time working with the local writers who attended my Wolds Words event last year and am looking forward to meeting this year’s attendees and the characters they create during the session. If you’re in Lincolnshire and fancy having a crack at writing your own character based piece of short fiction, be sure to book in advance.
