Seems to me we are having a run of truly great albums released this year. In recent weeks I have fallen for the following:

Low – C’mon. Especially Me is the stand-out on here. Just perfect.

Okkervil River – I Am Very Far. The best album by one of the best bands in the world. This track gets me thinking about the power of stories.

Wild Beasts – Smother. Just got into these. Bought their other two albums of the back of their brilliant latest and not a bit sorry about it.

Fleet Foxes – Helplessness Blues. A heartbreaking and elegiac album. My summer soundtrack to be sure.

Wye Oak – Civilian. A sign of a great band is when the acoustic versions of stand out tracks are even better than the album version. Wye Oak = great band.

Beastie Boys – Hot Sauce Commitee Part Two. A stunning return to form.

And that’s before we even get to the fact that my two favourite bands The Felice Brothers and Bon Iver have new albums out soon.

Judging by these two beauties they is gonna knock me flat. Not sure which is prettier, the track or the album artwork
