I have a story forthcoming in the about to be published second issue of print journal The Lonely Crowd, and ‘The Old Fashioned Hat‘ is available to read for free on The Lonely Crowd website as a preview; but you better get over there fast as it’ll only be live for the week running up to publication.

Issue two features new work from myself, Nuala Ní Chonchúir, Matt Rader, Eley Williams, Robert Minhinnick, Eluned Gramich, Cal Doyle, Susan Maiermoul, Mary-Jane Holmes, Claire Savage, John Freeman, Kate North, Jon Boilard, Chrissie Gittins, Susmita Bhattacharya, Patrick Kavanagh, Katie Straw, Sue Moules, Mark Blayney, & more. I am thrilled to be part of this new journal alongside such a fantastic line-up of authors, poets and photographic artists. And take a look at the cover for issue 2, a thing of beauty by Jo Mazelis .

The Lonely Crowd 2

From The Lonely Crowd website:

The Lonely Crowd is a new magazine primarily devoted to the short story, founded by Wales Arts Review’s Fiction Editor, John Lavin. Our goal is to create a new space in which the short story form can flourish and as such we accept unsolicited submissions and – in the case of the print edition – pay for them. We will also publish a small amount of high quality contemporary poetry as we believe that the two forms share a great deal in common. Likewise we are also looking for photographic work which informs and reveals in much the same way as a great piece of short fiction.

Issue 2 is available to pre-order, so what’re you waiting for.
